Whitfield County John Doe is a man was supposedly killed by a W. & A. train two miles south of Tilton, Georgia shortly before noon on September 14, 1910. After an inquest by Coroner Tarver later that afternoon, his body was sent to the undertaking rooms of Leonard McGhee furniture store in Dalton, Georgia. He was viewed by hundreds of curious people, but no one could establish his identity. He was buried in the afternoon of the next day at West Hill Cemetery in Dalton, per Tarver's order.
