Virginia Beach Jane Doe was a woman whose dismembered body was found in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1976.
Case[]
A fisherman spotted a green plastic trash bag that had washed up on One Island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. Inside was the body of a nude, headless, and fingerless woman, curled in a fetal position and bound with nylon rope. Investigators suspected she may have been thrown from a car on the bridge or from a boat in the bay. They also theorized that her head and fingers were removed to prevent identification. An autopsy revealed she had been dead for 24 to 48 hours and placed in the water about 24 hours before being found.
According to the Doe Network, her fingerprints and dentals are unavailable for identification. However, her DNA is available.
