Utah County Jane Doe was a near-term infant found near Provo, Utah, on October 21, 1950.
Case[]
The victim was discovered by a couple in a virtually dry Provo riverbed three miles from the mouth of Provo Canyon, not far from Christmas City Cafe/Tavern. She was wrapped in a sheet and weighed down with a large rock while the water was probably still running. Water was turned out of the river about two days before at Murdock Diversion Dam.
Due to the body's advanced state of decomposition, a cause or manner of death could not be determined. According to then-Utah County Sheriff Theron S. Hall, a Provo physician determined she was at least a seven-month fetus, but he was unable to determine if an abortion was involved.
