Tetsuya Kusumoto was a man whose body was found on the side of National Route 191, close to the Hiroshima Prefecture border in Masuda, Shimane Prefecture, Japan.
He was identified on 28 March 2025.
Case[]
At 5:50 pm on 2 May, 2024, a driver passing through Mitocho Uzugawa spotted a body lying on an embankment next to National Route 191 in an area 550 meters north of the Dougatao Tunnel. The decedent's eyes were missing, possibly due to postmortem animal activity, and he was wearing a disposable diaper. Due to the remote location that he was found in, it is suspected that the decedent was dumped on the slope and did not walk there or fall. While a cause of death could not be determined, he was believed to be in poor health at the time of his death.
Identification[]
On 28 March 2025, Shimane Prefecture Police announced that the decedent was identified as 52-year-old Tetsuya Kusumoto, who lived together with his twin brother and mother in a transient style in their vehicle. The family used to reside in Chiba Prefecture but disappeared in March 2024. According to the authorities, the decedent was probably bedridden and died of venous thrombosis.
The bodies of his twin brother and mother were recovered from a vehicle that fell into a fish port in Chiba Prefecture on 22 January 2025. While the mother and son were deceased, the police submitted the documents for the investigation for the suspicion of disposing of the body.
