Unidentified Wiki

Sutter County John Doe was a man found in Sutter County, California on August 31, 1941. He is believed to have been a victim of the unidentified Sacramento Mad Killer.

Case[]

The victim was recovered from a field. His exact cause of death and identity could not be determined due to decomposition, but he is believed to have died around June 1940. Over a year earlier, another unidentified victim was found a few hundred yards from where he was found. That victim is believed to have died around the same time as this one died.

Between 1940 and 1941, up to six men were found murdered in the Sacramento metropolitan area. Authorities believed the victims were picked up at either bars or at the West End of Sacramento, transported to isolated locations, and then robbed and killed (although authorities did not believe robbery was the primary motive). Several suspects were interrogated, but no one was arrested or charged in connection with the murders.

A third unidentified victim of the serial killer is the Sacramento County John Doe (1941).
