The Strange Lady of Gardey (Spanish: la extraña dama de Gardey), officially named NN Femenino (English: NN Female[1]), was the nickname given to a woman found murdered on 7 July 2003 in the city of Gardey, Buenos Aires.

Case[]

The body was found on 7 July 2003 on the outskirts of the city of Gardey, in the province of Buenos Aires by a woman who was looking for firewood. Authorities concluded that she had been raped and shot to death approximately 72 hours prior to her discovery. The autopsy revealed that she had marks on her arms that would indicate a previous suicide attempt. In addition, she was three months pregnant and quite possibly had given birth at least once before.

Her fingerprints were not registered and despite an investigation, the provincial police could not find her identity. An Interpol investigation did not produce any results either.

In 2008, given the impossibility of finding her identity, the case was taken over by the Red de Detectives Sin Fronteras, a detective association. Detectives concluded that it was very possible that she was the victim of a mob that sexually exploited her and that her case is related to other unresolved deaths of women that occurred in the area during those years.

In 2019, it was reported that the Strange Lady of Gardey could be Graciela Liliana Viera, a young woman from the province of Misiones who was last seen between 2001 and 2003.
