St. Kilda John Doe was a man whose body was found washed up on the St. Kilda beach in Victoria, Australia.

Case[]

At 10 AM on 16 May 1926, the body of a man was found by a passer-by, washed up on the West Beach in St. Kilda, between the Yacht Club and the Beaconsfield Hotel. The body was found lying about 6 yards from the shore in about 6 inches of water.

Police were then notified. Despite an initial police investigation, a coroner's inquest held at the Melbourne Morgue on 2 June 1926 could not identify the deceased, although they determined the cause of death as drowning. The inquest found that there was also no evidence to determine how the deceased got into the water. However, the investigators thought he must have fallen off a pier at St. Kilda on the night of 15 May 1926.
