"Smurfette" was a teenage girl whose body was found in Houston, Texas, in 2012. 17 girls have been ruled out as the decedent.

She is currently undergoing testing by Identifinders International.

Case[]

On October 16, 2012, the body of a teenage girl was found in two separate trash bags 20 to 25 feet away from a gated driveway off of Walters Road by a driver searching for a hubcap. She was estimated to have been left there sometime during the previous month and her hands were missing, possibly as a result of animal activity. Walters Road was regarded as a busy roadway at the time, though there were no reports of any suspicious activity in the area in the timeframe between when the girl's body was dumped and when she was found. In addition, the driveway was said to have led to an oil field at the time.

Any leads as to how the decedent came to be left near a gated driveway were scarce, but the evidence of growth-arrest lines in thigh bones discovered during her autopsy indicated she may have been malnourished or suffered a severe illness as a child. Asymmetry in her skull additionally indicated that she may have suffered a type of illness or syndrome. However, due to the advanced state of decomposition she was in, the girl's cause of death could not be determined.

A year later, isotope testing concluded that the decedent had been from the southern or north-central section of Texas, namely Austin and San Antonio which are 165 miles and 197 miles away from Houston respectively. Investigators began to theorize that she potentially was a victim of child sex trafficking due to nearby FM 1960 being a road often used for trafficking and disguising massage parlors as brothels. In addition, it is noted that sex trafficking victims are estranged from their families and aren't immediately identified when found deceased.

Investigators exhausted all efforts available, including searching for any leads in Mexico and Central America. Her recognizable "Smurfette" shirt had its tags recognized and retailers that may have sold it were searched, though they met a dead end.

Recently, Identifinders International began work on her case and has not provided any further updates.
