Elizabeth Ann "Sissy" Turek Vasser was a woman who disappeared in 1986 alongside her daughter, Cherie Barnes. In February of the next year, Vasser's remains were located in the same city, and Barnes has never been located. After the mother and child were reported missing, the victim's body was identified.

Case[]

Vasser disappeared with her daughter, Cherie Barnes on December 1, 1986. Her body had been disposed of in the Mississippi River and was discovered two months after the pair went missing. The body was examined and determined to belong to a brown-haired, white female between 15 and 30, of petite stature.

Following her identification, a funeral service was held, and Vasser was reburied in her native Nashville, Tennessee. Her obituary listed her cause of death as a drowning, although no elaboration of the nature of her passing was made.

Larry Vasser, the victim's husband and stepfather to Cherie, had pimped out his wife around the time of her death. He is currently incarcerated for an unrelated conviction, and he alleges that the child was re-homed and is possibly unaware of her disappearance. Cherie Barnes was witnessed to be in his company in January 1987 in Kansas City, Missouri.
