Sirilio or Joel Rayas were the possible names of a man found dead near Rio Rico, Arizona, in 2015. It is also likely his last name was Rallos-Ramos. He may have been born in 1946.
He was identified in June 2020, but his body went unclaimed.
Case[]
The victim was discovered in the morning by a rancher who noticed vultures swarming in the Santa Cruz River. He was found floating naked, and his body had decomposed and been there for at least a few days in the heat. At the time of his discovery, his immediate cause of death was unknown, but Santa Cruz County Sheriff Tony Estrada stated he likely drowned.
During the investigation, a fingerprint match revealed that the victim was apprehended in 1987 in Miami, Florida, under the name Sirilio Rayas. Additionally, he was arrested in 2010 by the United States Border Patrol under the name Joel Rallas-Ramos. In that arrest, he claimed to be a Mexican national and may have had trouble walking.
