Shoshone County John Doe was a man who was found deceased on a walking trail in Jacobs Gulch in Wallace, Idaho in 2002.

Case[]

He had died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the right side of his head. The gun was a 9mm Smith & Wesson Model 915 semiautomatic. It was traced back to a man in Houston, Texas who had sold the gun in 1996 but no leads could be generated as he had destroyed his records.

Some agencies list his date of recovery as June 12, 2002.

Characteristics[]

  • Well dressed and well nourished and did not appear to be a transient.
  • Grey hair with reddish highlights.

  • A grey, blue and black long sleeved button-up shirt.
  • Black Wrangler jeans with a black leather weave belt.
  • A silver colored belt buckle with a turquoise stone.
  • Black Athletic Works velcro closure shoes.
  • A black "Members Only" jacket that had some red and white Star Brite mints in the pocket.
  • White underwear.
  • White socks.
  • A gold Seiko brand watch.

Belongings[]

  • A black nylon bottle carrier that had a partial bottle of Diet Pepsi attached to the belt. He also had a black nylon shoulder holster with an empty, double magazine pouch.
  • A brand Rome duffel bag that contained a heavy brown leather jacket with a Navajo design, Kleenex/napkins, sanitizer wipes from Service Master, one cigarette, and more mints.
  • A pair of glasses. It was an expensive and unique prescription, and the glasses were only sold in Idaho, Oregon and Washington State.
  • A black fold up knife with the words "stainless steel", a full 9mm magazine in a zip-lock bag; a partial pack of Doral non-filter cigarettes, a pair of silver scissors, a black/yellow lighter, seven dollars in cash and miscellaneous change.
