"Shorty" was the alias used by a man found murdered in 2007.
Case[]
Shorty was well known in the Macon area and had a lot of friends. He was described as "well hearted" and with a short temper. A woman whose roommate sold crack to Shorty said that he claimed to be from either the Dodge County, Eastman, or Dublin area; it is unsure of the exact location he said he was from. She also stated that he may have been a veteran as she had seen medals in his car, a brown 1970s model Fleetwood Cadillac and that he worked in the heat and air conditioning industry. Additionally, Shorty picked up prostitutes and often swapped drugs for sex. His friends believed he had a family because he traveled back and forth from Macon to wherever he may have lived.
A known drug dealer, who used the nickname "Big Boy" is the prime suspect in Shorty's death. Shorty's friend claims that he heard Shorty being killed in a vacant apartment in the complex he frequented. It is believed he was killed in a robbery, as he was heard shouting. Shorty's friend said that he also saw Shorty's body being dragged out of the apartment and into the trunk of his car. The suspect told Shorty's friend to say nothing about what he had witnessed but he called police soon after he left. Police did not follow up on the report as they thought Shorty's friend had lied, but once rumour spread that Shorty's remains had been found in a field, it was determined to be true.
The suspect gave an alibi but those who knew the suspect accused him of being responsible. He was eventually linked to the crime via blood found in the apartment. Unfortunately, it is impossible to arrest the suspect as a judge took him off of probation, just as his arrest was being planned.
