Rodolfo Barcenas Guerrero (born May 20, 1958) was a man whose body was found in a canal near 43rd Street and 7th Avenue in Tampa, Florida, in 1997.
He was identified in May 2025.
Case[]
Barcenas was a Mexican national who legally resided in the United States at the time of his death. Although he carried a Resident Alien Card and Social Security Card with his real name on his person, no family members could be contacted who could verify his identity. He was later buried at the Chapel Hill Cemetery.
A renewed attempt by the Mexican Consulate in 2024 finally located a sister living in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. This sister was contacted and provided a DNA sample, leading to Barcenas' positive identification. After identification, Barcenas' remains were cremated and returned to his family in Mexico.
