Robin Hoods Bay John Doe was a sailor who died on 18 January 1917 during World War I.
Case[]
On 18 January 1917, the SS Planudes was travelling from Tyne towards Trouville, France. The ship struck a mine placed by SM UC-43 and sank in the North Sea with the loss of all eleven crew members.[1]
He is buried in St. Stephen's New Churchyard in Robin Hoods Bay, England. The location of the grave is not known.
