Pyre Case refers to a young woman found burned in 1952 in Blackhawk, Colorado. The victim has also been known as "Maria."

Case[]

On September 30, 1952, a man on a hunting trip discovered the charred skeletal remains of a woman under a charred log in an unused gravel pit. The site was about 100 yards from Highway 119 and 25 feet from Clear Creek. Her cause of death was not able to be determined but is presumed to be homicide. An autopsy showed she suffered blunt force trauma to her head with an object. Investigators found a three-foot-long stick with blood on it about 20 feet from her remains during a search of the area.

The stick may have been the object used to beat the victim. Medical examiners were not able to determine if she had been alive at the start of the fire. According to the Doe Network, her fingerprints and DNA are unavailable for identification. However, her dentals are available.

According to the Doe Network, her case was closed in October of 2025 without a resolution, due to lack of information.
