Pueblo John Doe was a man whose skeletal remains were discovered in Pueblo, Colorado, in October 2000.
Case[]
On October 14, 2000, a woman on horseback discovered a campsite where the skeletal remains of the victim were found positioned on a sleeping bag.
The campsite was situated on the prairie approximately one mile north of the Walking Stick housing development, north of Pueblo. No signs of foul play were evident. At the campsite, investigators found an unassembled tent, an additional sleeping bag, several canteens, and multiple changes of clothing.
A witness informed investigators of an encounter with a man camping on the open range in August 2000. According to the witness, the man claimed to be from Albuquerque, New Mexico and mentioned traveling toward Denver. The man had dreadlocks measuring approximately 4 to 6 inches in length.
The witness reported that the man was informed he could not remain on the land and would need to relocate. Subsequently, the man moved approximately half a mile to another location.
It is believed that the deceased individual may have had mental health issues and was either discharged or left a mental health facility.
Characteristics[]
- Black hair, possibly worn in 4-6 inch dreadlocks.
- Had a degenerative joint disease and arthritis in the spine.
- Likely walked with a noticeable limp and would have favored the right foot.
- Infection in the right foot.
- One lumbar vertebra was fused.
- Nearly perfect teeth without fillings.
