Providence County John Doe was a man who was found hung from the limb of an oak tree. His date of discovery is unknown, but a man named James N. Arnold visited the lot on October 22, 1904 and wrote about it.

He was buried on the bank of the Ponegansett River and back of the "Golden Ball" Inn in Scituate. He may be referred to as "the Hung Stranger" and the area he is buried as the "Hung Stranger Lot."

Few details are available in his case.
