Placer County John Doe was a man who was found in California in 1972.

Case[]

The victim was found in a remote mountain area near Interstate 80. He had been wrapped in two blankets and set alight with a flammable substance. Smoke was found in his lungs, making it likely he had been burned alive. The body appeared to have bed sores and he had suffered a broken arm months before his death that had never been treated. The bottoms of his feet were noted to be very smooth, indicating that he could not walk. He also appeared to have several other untreated bone fractures and had possibly suffered a blow to the head in the days before his death. He was malnourished and unkempt.

It is believed the man was disabled and was possibly a resident of a long-term care facility.
