Pietermaritzburg Jane Doe was a woman who was found in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa in February 2007. She is possibly a victim of a serial killer.
Case[]
The victim was found behind ML Sultan High School near the N3 Highway. She was found raped, strangled by her panties, then burned beyond recognition.
During the 1990s, thirteen women, many of them sex workers, were found raped and strangled by their panties in Pietermaritzburg and the surrounding area. Three homicides in Pietermaritzburg in 2007 are also believed by some to be the work of the same killer. However, the 2007 victims were severely burned whereas the 1990s victims were not.
The serial killer, dubbed the "Sleepy Hollow Killer" because it is Pietermaritzburg’s nickname, has not been identified.
