Pete Anthony Rose was a man who disappeared from Woodlake, California on June 11, 1995. His remains were discovered in Ash Fork, Arizona on November 2, 1995 and identified 15 years later. Before he was identified, authorities referred to him as "Unidentified Sevens Ranch."
Case[]
Pete Rose's skeletal remains were discovered by a ranch hand in the forest off of Forest Road 142 at Sevens Ranch in Ash Fork. His skull was discovered in the area on October 31, 1995. A cause of death could not be determined, although the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office determined there were no signs of gunshot or stab wounds. Due to the decomposition of the remains, it is believed they were there for a little more than a year. His dental information, including a white spot of enamel hypocalcification on the surface of the upper left central incisor, was recorded by the medical examiner. In 2000, a composite sketch of his skull was commissioned.

Reconstruction
In 2008, the Coconino County Sheriff's Office received a grant that would allow DNA testing for five cases in their jurisdiction, including "Unidentified Sevens Ranch." His DNA was put into the CODIS system, which quickly ruled out a missing person from Mesa, Arizona. In the fall of 2010, the Tulare County Sheriff's Office submitted a DNA profile to CODIS of Pete Rose's mother and son, the latter of whom has no memory of his father. On November 4, 2010, "Unidentified Sevens Ranch" was identified as Pete.
With Pete's remains identified, the case is considered closed despite the undetermined cause of death. At the time of his identification, it is believed his remains will be buried in the indigent section of Citizens Cemetery at the expense of Coconino County, as the family did not want to accept the remains.
