Peggy Anne Dodd (1955 - c. June 6, 1984) was a woman who was found deceased in Texas in 1984.

She was identified via genetic genealogy in 2022.

Case[]

Peggy's remains were found under a tree in a field in Fort Bend County, Texas, on December 22, 1984. Her cause of death could not be determined.

In 2021, Astrea Forensics was contacted to extract, library prep, and sequence DNA from rootless hair. They generated a SNP profile from a single strand that was approximately 4.5cm in length, and then uploaded it to a genetic genealogy database. In June 2022, volunteer genetic genealogists from the Utah Cold Case Coalition used that profile to identify her remains.

Peggy's family last saw her in 1984. She would often hitchhike and disappear for months, so they weren't initially concerned by her absence. However, when she failed to reappear for her birthday or Christmas, they reported her missing to the police.
