Unidentified Wiki

Patricia Kathleen McGlone (April 20, 1953 - c. 1969 or 1970) was a teenager found deceased in the basement of a building in New York undergoing demolition. She was known as "Midtown Jane Doe" before her identification, which occurred in April 2024.

Case[]

The victim was found in the basement of a run-down and mostly abandoned apartment on Manhattan's West Side, which was allegedly used by sex workers. She had been wrapped in a rug and concealed underneath a layer of concrete behind an old coal-burning furnace. The layer of concrete was described as being relatively fresh. Her hands and feet had been bound with an extension cord, the excess length had then been wrapped around her neck.

Isotope analysis inaccurately indicated that the female had likely originated from the US Midwest. It was also theorized she might have ties to the so-called "Minnesota Strip" area known for the large community of young female sex workers coming from the Midwest. Police also believed, at the time, that she had most likely died after 1988, had potential ties to Ireland, and possibly was involved in sex work or drug use.

Since her identification, there has been no indication that McGlone was involved in any illicit activities at the time she was murdered.

Identification[]

In April 2024, the woman was identified as 16-year-old Patricia Kathleen McGlone of Sunset Park, Brooklyn after her DNA matched that of a relative who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Investigators believe she was killed in 1969. McGlone was married at the time of her death and possibly had a child. There is no indication that a missing persons report was ever filed in the time after her disappearance.
