Orleans Parish Jane Doe was a woman found in a burned stolen car on October 17, 2007 in New Orleans, Louisiana. A man has been charged for her murder.

Case[]

The victim was found inside a burnt up gray Dodge Intrepid that was stolen prior to the fire. The car was found near the intersection of Florida Avenue and Franklin Avenue and Treasure and Arts streets in a secluded area of the St. Roch neighborhood. Due to the intensity of the fire, her skeleton was highly fragmented that even at least one hand and limb were not recovered, and no dental information could be recovered as a result. Nevertheless, anthropological examination indicated she was dead before the fire started. In 2018, Joseph Brant of New Orleans confessed to killing the victim. He said she was a prostitute he picked up in the stolen Intrepid. He then strangled after attempting to rape her. He then poured gasoline and then lit it on fire. Brant was convicted for the August 11, 2008 killing of Jessica Hawk in 2016 and is on trial for the murder of this victim, who is his first chronologically, the January 11, 2008 shooting murder of Jody Johnson, and the September 27, 2008 shooting murder of Kirsten Byrdum.
