Nilsa Padilla, known as Theresa Torso while unidentified, was a young woman whose dismembered remains were found in 1985. She was identified in 2013.
Case[]
Padilla was born in Puerto Rico and had previously lived in New York before moving to Miami with her boyfriend Jorge Nuñez, who used the alias Rafael Guzman. She had three daughters: one from a previous relationship and two with Nuñez.
According to Padilla's two older daughters, Nuñez beat her to death inside of the U-Haul truck where they lived and put her body in an army green bag before disposing of it.
Her dismembered remains were discovered between April 4th and 8th of 1985, some of which were found in a green bag. The similarly dismembered remains of a man were found two days before, and they were believed to have been killed by the same person. While Padilla's daughters both claimed to have witnessed their mother's murder from a young age, their reports were not taken seriously until her middle daughter contacted authorities in 2013.
Nuñez was deported to his native Peru after serving four years in prison for sexually abusing his daughters, and his current whereabouts are unknown. He is considered a suspect in both Padilla and the unidentified man's murders, as well as the disappearance and likely murder of his youngest daughter Alicia Padilla.
