Case[]
The decedent was sleeping in the stairwell of the Samuel Gompers Houses when a man set fire to his pants leg. It was originally believed the fire had accidentally started from a crack pipe found on the victim's lap, however the incident was caught on surveillance cameras. The victim was taken to hospital with severe burns over more than 75% of his body, and died 13 days later.
Nathaniel Terry, a resident of the building, was charged in relation to the murder. He stated to police that he started the fire to try and scare the victim off.
