Nantes John Doe was a man who was found floating in the Loire River in Nantes, France near La Grue Jaune. The decedent was estimated to have been in the water for some time due to the state of decomposition and was found to have ingested four types of drugs to treat psychiatric disorders before he died, though he was concluded to have died from shock from potentially accidentally falling into the Loire. His death is not currently considered suspicious.
Case[]
On the evening of the 5th of December, 2015, a passerby noticed a corpse floating in the Loire near La Grue Jaune in Nantes, France, and immediately alerted police to their discovery. Nantes firefighters soon appeared to fish the body from the water, noting that the decedent was in an advanced state of decomposition and lacked any sort of identification. Due to his state of decomposition, authorities concluded that he had been floating in the Loire for at least a week and attempted to match his description to local missing persons records but were unsuccessful. The man lacked any fingerprints or identifying factors like tattoos or jewelry, and his dental photos did not match any dental records on file with local dentists.
Following an autopsy, it was found that the decedent had ingested four types of psychiatric medications before his death, though his cause of death was concluded to have been from shock after falling into the frigid winter waters of the Loire. Local doctors were contacted by authorities though none were found to have prescribed the medications or known the man. Nonetheless, authorities still suspect that the decedent was local to Nantes as the body spending a week in the Loire indicated that he hadn't fallen very far from where he had been found due to the river's flow.
