Michael Allan Leach (October 21, 1957 - c. 2018) was a man whose remains were found near an oil well, 20 yards away from the nearest road in a brushy area in Canton, Ohio. His cause of death could not be determined, but investigators consider it suspicious.
He was identified in July 2024 by the DNA Doe Project.
Background[]
Leach lived at the Friends of the Homeless shelter in New Philadelphia, Ohio, for a few months in 2017 before moving into a home on East 3rd Street in Dover, Ohio.
In August 2017, a neighbor reported him missing to Dover police, concerned that he had not been seen in weeks. Police found the house empty, with open windows and a fan on, but no sign of Leach.
Police believe he was murdered and his body dumped near the oil well.
