Medford Jane Doe is a woman found in Medford, New York on December 7, 1994. She is one of two unidentified victims of Robert Shulman.

Case

The victim was found along the side of Long Island Avenue in a blue Rubbermaid garbage bin by an employee of the Suffolk County Department of Public Works who at first believed the remains were a bad load of meat. She was nude and partially covered with plastic bags with a white towel or bathmat around her head. Both her arms and left leg had been removed and have not been recovered.

Serial killer Robert Shulman was convicted of her murder. Shulman confessed that he killed the victim with a baseball bat in his room and dismembered her with an axe. He then disposed her body parts and belongings in various places and masked her remains with baking soda to hide the decomposition smell. Between 1991-1995, Shulman, a postal worker, picked up five prostitutes, got high on crack and had sex with them. He would then bludgeon and dismember them, and finally dispose their body parts in garbage bins around Long Island, New York and Yonkers, New York. He was originally sentenced to death, but his sentence was changed from life without parole after the New York Court of Appeals invalidated the death penalty in 2004. He died on April 13, 2006.
