Marion County Doe was an individual who was killed in the 1971 Tonti train wreck near Salem, Illinois. Their body was badly mangled, stripped of most of its flesh, and partially decapitated, meaning that it was impossible to determine their height, weight, age, sex, race, or any other identifying characteristics.
In March 2025, the DNA Doe Project began working with the Salem City Council to identify the person through genetic genealogy.
