Lourdes Lucia Llivisupa Ortiz was a young woman who was found in a canal after she was seen jumping into it to escape police.
She underwent testing by the DNA Doe Project. In March 2024, the FBI was able to confirm her identity as Lourdes Lucia Llivisupa Ortiz of Ecuador, acting on a tip received by the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner in 2023.
Case[]
Officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle carrying the decedent. The vehicle failed to stop and drove off into a farm field. Officers lost sight of the car but located it a short time later on a dirt road near the canal.

Reconstruction by Carl Koppelmann
A search of the area located one individual who indicated that he and a female had climbed the fence and jumped into the canal. The individual took officers to where she was last seen and indicated that after jumping in, he never saw her resurface. A search of the area by Pinal County rescue was unsuccessful.
The decedent was found the following morning in the canal; it is unknown at this time if she was found in the same area she jumped into. In the area she was located, the water was traveling 374 cfs and 20' deep.
