Unidentified Wiki

Lori Megan Longchase [1] was a woman whose body was found in a ditch along a roadway in a desert area.

She was identified in September 2024, and her identity was released in October.

Case[]

On August 15, 1983, a woman's body was found in an irrigation ditch in the 4300 block of East Williams Field Road. She had been murdered. Forensic Genealogy has showed that she was likely a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe.

She was formerly assumed to be Peggy Elgo and Elgo's family submitted DNA for comparison. It did not match the woman's remains, but proved Elgo was another unidentified woman found in Phoenix.

In 2021, the sister of Lori Longchase, a woman missing from Phoenix, viewed a reconstruction of the unidentified woman, and felt strongly that she was Lori. At the time, confirmation couldn't be made because Lori had been adopted, meaning no DNA could be provided.

In 2024, Lori's deceased son, who died in infancy, was exhumed to provide DNA to compare with the woman. After the DNA test, it was confirmed Lori was the woman.

Characteristics[]

  • Wavy dark brown or black hair that was cut short.
  • Brown or black eyes.
  • Likely had few to no freckles.
  • Had braces in the past.
  • Wore a retainer.
