Linden Jane Doe was a young pregnant woman whose skeletal remains were found in a well in 2012. She is believed to be a victim of the "Speed Freak Killers" Loren Herzog and Wesley Shermantine.
Case[]
In February 2012, the skeletal remains of three women and a fetus were found at the bottom of a well in Linden, California. The well was discovered after Wesley Shermantine had sent a letter containing the location of the well to his sister, who later turned it over to police. Shermantine's accomplice, Loren Herzog, committed suicide in prison the month before after finding out that Shermantine was going to reveal where they had disposed of some of their victims.
The two other bodies in the well were identified as 19-year-old Kimberly Billy and 16-year-old Joann Hobson, who had been missing since 1984 and 1985, respectively. The third woman, who was determined to be the mother of the fetus, has never been identified. No postmortem interval has been stated, but it can be assumed she was killed between 1984 and 1999, when the Speed Freak Killers were active.
