Linda Mae Archer was a woman whose remains were found in Woodbridge, Virginia, on June 2, 2010. She had disappeared in October 2004.
She was identified in March 2011.
Background[]
Little is known about Linda's life, but she was known to have associated with homeless people in the area.
Case[]
Linda was last seen at her home on October 11, 2004, in Woodbridge, Virginia, but wasn't reported missing until January 2005. She was never seen again.
Linda's remains were found in a wooded area near an abandoned farmhouse in Woodbridge after a tip was received that they had been spotted in the area. A skull that was presumably Linda's was also spotted in the area the previous month, but police couldn't find it. It was found alongside the remains.
While police immediately suspected the remains may have been Linda's, it wouldn't be confirmed until March 2011, when a DNA test by the Virginia State Lab was performed. Now that Linda's remains have been recovered, police are trying to determine the cause and manner of her death.
