Kristi Lynn Nikle was a young woman last seen leaving an apartment in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Police initially suspected that she had left on her own accord, but now foul play is suspected in her case.
Nikle's father reported her missing one week after her disappearance. Nikle had a mental disability, where she had the mental capacity of a 10 year old, although she was still socially capable. This has lead to speculation that she had fallen victim to a serial killer of mentally disabled women.
Floyd Todd Tapson is considered a suspect in her case, as he had previously been convicted of shooting a mentally handicapped Montana woman. In addition, a family friend allegedly saw Tapson in a car with Nikle a few days after she had disappeared, and Nikle had bragged about having a boyfriend named "Todd". No one has been charged in her disappearance, and her case remains unsolved.
