Kings County Jane Doe was a teenage girl or young woman who was found murdered in Brooklyn, New York, on May 18, 1991.

She was suspected of having been a sex worker, and her death was possibly connected to at least two others that occurred in the area around the same time.

Case[]

The decedent's decomposed body was discovered among tall weeds in an open grassy area near Seaview Avenue by a man collecting bottles. The discovery site was also approximately two hundred feet west of Fountain Avenue near Belt Parkway. She had been shot twice, once in the head and once in the chest through the heart, and was wearing no clothing below the waist.

Investigators established a connection between the killing and at least two other cases based on similar modus operandi. The victims include 25-year-old Debbie Brown, who was found shot to death on Stanley Avenue in East New York on May 6, and 32-year-old Charlene Brown, who was murdered on East 23rd Street and Shore Parkway in Sheepshead Bay on May 14. In all three cases, the victims were shot multiple times, and their bodies were discarded in vacant lots. Each victim was killed by a single gunshot wound to the heart, which penetrated vital arteries.

Further evidence pointing to a shared killer between the victim and Charlene Brown was found after ballistics testing matched the slugs used in both homicides to the same .22 automatic handgun. Police believed both murders may have occurred on May 14, possibly at the same time, and the two bodies were then dumped in separate locations. Debbie Brown was also shot with a .22 automatic weapon, but authorities determined it was not the same kind as was used in the other two murders. Police did not officially state if they considered the patterns as being an indication of a serial killer in the area, but did warn local sex workers of the potential danger.

It was speculated based on patterns with the other known potential victims that the decedent was likely a sex worker who had been picked up from a specific area known for prostitution activity near East 98th Street and Livonia Avenue in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn.
