Kindia John Doe was a man who was discovered floating face down in the Souapiti Dam lake within the town of Bangouya in Kindia, Kindia Prefecture, Guinea. On the same day, the body of a 13-year-old boy was discovered in the waters of a nearby abandoned mine, though he was quickly identified as a resident of the area. It is unknown whether the deaths of the decedent and the boy are linked or a case of coincidence.
Authorities in Bangouya reported that at least three drowning deaths had occurred in the area since the opening of the Souapiti Dam in September of 2020, leading detectives to believe the decedents may have drowned as well. However, they additionally noted that a shipwreck had occurred in Boké, a city six hours away from Kindia, the previous week, where 14 people had gone missing. It is unknown if authorities still consider the decedent to be connected to the shipwreck.
