Karen Lynn Pineda Nelson (November 29, 1959 - c. November 28-29, 1988) was a woman whose body was found in rural Morgan county, Colorado in 1988. Her head and hands had been severed before her body was lit on fire in attempt to prevent identification. She was identified the following August, the first time an identification was made by genetic DNA testing in Colorado.
