Joseph "Joe" Helt was a young man who went missing in 1987 in New York.
Case
Helt disappeared following a vehicle accident near the Sam's Point Ice Caves in Ellenville, New York. The vehicle he drove, containing three friends, was stranded in the snow at about 3:30 am that morning.
Helt left the group to find assistance. Eventually, his companions left the scene and were rescued. Searches were conducted to find Helt, but inclement weather hindered their efforts.
