Jane Doe III was the final, but tenth discovered, victim of the Cleveland Torso Murderer.

Case[]

The victim's leg was found by a young laborer on his way to work who at first thought the leg was a dead fish in the Cuyahoga River. A month later, police found additional remains, her torso and legs, in two burlap sacks in the Cuyahoga River. Her head and arms were never found.

The victim, called "Jane Doe #3," is also referred to as "Victim #10" of the Cleveland Torso Murderer. Between 1935-1938, the Cleveland Torso Murderer was responsible for the murder and dismemberment of twelve transients and hobos in which only two were ever identified. Investigators believe there are additional victims. Although investigators had several suspects, most notably Frank Dolezal and Dr. Francis E. Sweeney, no one was ever charged and convicted for the murders.

Unlike any of the other victims, drugs were found in her system. Whether this is because the killer drugged her or she was a drug user is unknown.

Other victims believed to be related to the Cleveland Torso Murderer include Lady of the Lake, Tattooed Man, Jane Doe I, Jane Doe II, Jane Doe IV, John Doe I, John Doe III, John Doe IV, John Doe V, John Doe VI.
