Israel Alejandro Thomas was a man who was struck by a vehicle while walking down Highway 6 after running away from home a day prior in Houston, Texas. He was identified on September 3, 2024 after his adoptive mother learned of his death through a friend.
Israel was adopted at 2 years old and was diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and was legally blind. His adoptive mother, Lisa Thomas, founded the 241 Runners Awareness program in his honor to create a system that helps adoptive parents locate their missing children.
