Unidentified Wiki

Isère Doe was a child whose skeletal remains were discovered in the Vercors Cave System near the département of Isère in France. Their case has been linked to the disappearance of nine to twelve children in Isère between 1983 and 1996, but their identity has yet to be established. The decedent is highly theorized to be Ludovic Janvier, who disappeared on the 17th of March, 1983, after being led away from his brother by a man in work clothing. However, tests have not been conducted on the remains to confirm this theory.

Case[]

On the 23rd of May, 1985, the skeletal remains of a child were discovered in the cave systems of the Vercors Massif, near Isère. Few details are available on how the decedent's body came to be discovered, though their case was linked to the disappearance, assault, and murder of several children in Isère between 1983 and 1996. 3 of the children's cases have been solved, though the perpetrators were confirmed to have not been involved in the other cases. It is suspected that the remaining cases, including the decedent's, may be the work of a serial killer.

Sometime after their discovery, it was theorized that the decedent may be Ludovic Janvier, who had disappeared from Isère 2 years prior. Janvier's mother appealed to the police in 2013 to conduct tests on the remains to confirm whether or not they belonged to her son, but authorities have yet to conduct these tests.
