Hot Spring County John Doe was a man who died after a vehicle he was driving was submerged in a body of water. He died after he was transported to a hospital.

Case

The decedent was picked up while hitchhiking in Louisiana, Kentucky by a man on the way to Houston, Texas. John Doe and the man who picked him up stopped for breakfast near Benton, Arkansas on October, 18, 1984, but it is unclear if this was the day they met or some time later. The driver began to feel tired and let the victim drive as a result. When he woke up, the cab of the vehicle was filling up with water. The driver escaped but John Doe did not.

John Doe was under water for 15 to 30 minutes before he was extracted from the vehicle. He died in hospital two days later.
