Ho Chi Minh City John Doe was a man whose skeletal remains were discovered in a cemetery in the Tân Thạnh Đông commune of Ho Chi Minh City's Củ Chi district. Authorities believe the decedent had died in a separate location from a accident 2 to 3 months before his discovery and was brought to the cemetery. It is believed there was an attempt to cremate the body and hold an undocumented funeral. The decedent was initially believed to be a woman.
Case[]
On the morning of 2 December 2019, a resident cutting grass around the cemetery in Tân Thạnh Đông near Nguyen Thi Nep street came across human bone fragments and unspecified objects surrounded in ash. Further investigation by authorities would discover a human skull amongst the pile, in addition to bones. According to investigators, they believe the decedent had died at another location and their body was dumped at the cemetery for an unrecorded funeral. The ash and bone fragments were noted to have possibly been an attempt at cremation.
