
Hita John Doe was an infant who was discovered in a weedy area alongside train tracks about 100 meters away from the Yoake Station platform in Hita, Oita Prefecture, Japan.
Case[]
On 4 May 1998, a resident was throwing away garbage when they discovered what appeared to be a child's foot sticking out of the soil. Officers arrived and proceeded to excavate the area, uncovering the body of an infant lying on his back, covered in a towel and wrapped with a shirt. His umbilical cord was still attached to his body, and he was estimated to have died 2-3 days before his discovery from suffocation. Police have inquired at local obstetrics departments and high schools but have obtained no leads.
On the 20th anniversary of his death, police renewed their appeal for further information.
