Hillsborough County Jane Doe was a woman found murdered in Tampa, Florida, in 1985.
Case[]
The badly decomposed remains were discovered in a field in late 1985. The victim was nude, and she was initially listed as 16-99 years old.
After her remains were exhumed for DNA and additional forensic evidence, a reconstruction was created during the 2017 Art of Forensics workshop at the University of South Florida.
After the clay bust was displayed with other completed renderings, the family of Brenda Williams initially believed the remains belonged to the then-missing woman, who vanished in 1978. DNA eventually concluded the pair were not the same person. However, Brenda was eventually identified as the source of a mandible that was discovered in 1986.
