Gyeyang District Jane Doe, alternatively known as The Gyeongin Ara Canal Body in news media, was a woman whose dismembered legs were discovered in the Ara Canal in the Gyeyang district of Incheon, South Korea, nine days apart. Her charred torso and head would be found on Mt. Gyeyong a month after the discovery of her last leg. Due to the frequency in which bodies are located in the Ara Canal, her missing remains may be intermingled with another set of remains.
Case[]
On the afternoon of 29 May 2020, a jogger near the Moksang Bridge discovered a decomposed left leg floating in the water and immediately alerted the authorities. Nine days later, on 7 June, a right leg was found by a police dog 3 miles away from the discovery site of the left leg near the Gyul Hyundai Bridge. The legs were concluded to belong to the same person. However, they were initially believed to have belonged to a victim of a separate murder case in Paju, South Korea, due to the perpetrator dumping remains into the Ara Canal as well. The decedent would later be ruled out as a victim in the case, and her case would begin to be considered as an accidental drowning in which the decomposition of her body caused her remains to separate.
A month later, on 9 July, a man digging for medicinal herbs on Mt. Gyeyong in the Bangchuk neighborhood of the Gyeyang district discovered a charred torso and skull buried in the dirt. The torso and skull would match the legs that were located over a month prior, though authorities found that the decedent's DNA did not match anyone in South Korea's DNA database. It was later concluded that she was a woman in her 30s to 40s and that she had been murdered, with accidental drowning being ruled out as a cause of death. Authorities investigated several nearby CCTV cameras, missing person cases, and domestic violence victim reports for leads, though their efforts were fruitless.

Reconstruction with shorter hair
Recently, due to the decedent's DNA not matching any records on South Korea's DNA database, it is suspected that she may have been a defector from North Korea or a Chinese immigrant. These theories have not been conclusively confirmed and are still under investigation as of December 2021.
