Grays Harbor County Jane Doe was a young or middle-aged woman who was found murdered in Elma, Washington in 1988.

She is currently undergoing testing by the DNA Doe Project.

Case[]

On October 24th, 1988, the skeletal remains of a female were found in a remote wooded area, off a logging road north of Elma. She is believed to have died no earlier than 1982, and it was concluded that she died from a gunshot wound to the head. Her skull figure had pointed to belonging to the East Asian group, but her exact race is unknown. In 2024, the DNA Doe Project determined she was most likely of Cambodian ancestry and was probably an immigrant or from an immigrant family.

At the time of her discovery she was found fully clothed with jewelry. Among her clothing was a men’s shirt, which is theorized by some to have belonged to her killer. This shirt was tested for DNA, but the results are unknown.

Characteristics[]

  • Dark brown hair.
  • She had two of her teeth extracted at some point in her life.
  • Amalgam filling in a tooth.
  • Medium to stocky build.
  • Healed fracture on her left tibia.
  • Her shoe size may have been 6 1/2.

  • Blue Loren Scott men's shirt.
  • Black Venezia pants.
  • A white multicolored blouse with a floral pattern
  • Dark blue Woodbridge slip-on shoes, size 6 1/2.
  • Pearl with silver setting ring, size 6, Only sold by Avon during the winter of 1981.
  • Golden earring with 5 blue sapphires, French post style, possibly Asian manufacture.
