Grafton County John Doe was a young man who was killed in a train accident near Ashland, New Hampshire on June 2, 1913. He did not appear as an ordinary transient based on his clothing.

Case[]

The victim was found in the morning near Ashland Summit. He suffered traumatic injuries; his ears were nearly severed, his and jaw were broken, and his dace had a mass of cuts.

Police chief Schelzel and his assistant, James Flemming, were notified and went to the area where the victim was found. They determined he was killed by a train and notified E.P. Hodgson, the Medical Referee of Lakeport, who determined the victim was killed on accident.

E.G. Gammons brought the victim's body to his undertaking room where it stayed for two days. On the afternoon of June 4, 1913, he was buried in the Green Grove Cemetery after no one came forward to identify them.
