"Girl from the Main" was the nickname given to a teenager whose body was discovered in the Main River in 2001. Her body showed signs of long-term abuse.

Case[]

A teenage girl, estimated to be 15 or 16 years old (though described to appear younger), was found wrapped in a bedsheet and tied to the foot of an umbrella stand to weigh her down. She had been in the water for an estimated period of 12-24 hours, having died up to three days before.

Her death was caused by blunt-force trauma which led to broken ribs, a ruptured spleen and lungs. In addition, she had a number of healed injuries, including broken bones, burns, and a cauliflower ear.

Two scarves or belts, known as "Nalas", were found with the girl's body. These are commonly worn by women in Afghanistan and Pakistan, so police speculated that the girl was originally from that area, but had lived for years in the Frankfurt area, possibly as a servant in a diplomat household. Because of diplomat immunity, these investigations led to nowhere.

  • Several elongated scars on forehead, torso, and legs.
  • Full set of teeth and had not received dental treatment.
