Genetic genealogy conducted by DNA Solutions in 2019 identified a relative, which led to her being identified as Genelle McDaniel of Eugene, Oregon.

McDaniel was never reported missing to the police. Circumstantial evidence found by police after her identification suggested that her death was a suicide.
